Why P.A.C.E Curly Coaching Was Born (And Why Your Hair Deserves It)

By Coach Trell

Let me share something with y’all: P.A.C.E wasn’t just a cute catchy name that came to me out of thin air while sipping tea and managing my kinky coils. No ma’am. No Sir. It was birthed from personal experience, hard work, scalp dryness, and years of learning through tough hard lessons—like many of y’all striving to restore the glory, beauty, and health of your natural crown.

So why was P.A.C.E Curly Coaching created? Simply because the natural hair journey isn’t just about achieving curls— it’s about healing. Healing and developing a relationship with our hair. Healing from the lies we were told. Healing the breakage—physically and emotionally.

The Backstory (Yes, It’s Personal)

I was tired. Tired of seeing Black women—my curlysista's—struggling with hair that should be flourishing. Tired of the myths, the misinformation, and the frustration. We’ve been taught to fight our hair instead of love it. We were raised on hot comb Saturdays, creamy crack Sundays, and don’t-get-your-hair-wet energy. Meanwhile, our crowns were crying out for patience, love, and understanding.

What Does P.A.C.E Stand For?

Glad you asked, boo.

  • Patience – because your curls are not going to pop overnight. Growth—real growth—takes time, and you can’t rush greatness. Period.

  • Acceptance – of your texture, your pattern, your journey. This ain’t a race to look like that influencer with the 3a curls and the 100k followers. This is about you.

  • Consistency – the same way you stay loyal to your skincare, your faith, or your favorite grandma favorites sweet potato pie recipe, your hair needs regular, intentional care.

  • Education – because what you don’t know will break your strands off. Trust me. We’re here to teach you the why, not just the what.

Why This Matters for the Black Community

Listen. Hair is political. Hair is cultural. Hair is historical. For Black people, especially Black women, our hair has always been more than hair. It’s identity. It’s power. It’s resistance. But too many of us are walking around disconnected from our crowns, unsure of how to care for it, or ashamed of how it grows from our scalps.

P.A.C.E Curly Coaching is here to change that.

We’re not here to shame you for not knowing. We’re here to coach you—lovingly, truthfully, and with a little side-eye when needed. We offer a safe space to unlearn, relearn, and grow. Whether you’re transitioning, big chopped last week, or still hiding your hair under a wig because you’re scared of what’s underneath—we got you.

Real Talk: This is Bigger Than Hair

When we embrace our curls, coils, and kinks, we’re saying:

"I love me. All of me. Even the parts society told me to tame."

That kind of self-love ripples into how we show up in the world, how we raise our children, how we take up space.

P.A.C.E is more than a coaching program. It’s a reclamation.

So, if you’ve been looking for support on your natural journey, and you’re ready to stop surviving and start thriving with your hair—come on in. The bonnet is warm, the oil is hot, and the coach (that’s me) is ready.

Let’s grow. At your P.A.C.E.

With love, laughs, and a little edge control,

Coach Trell Founder of P.A.C.E Curly Coaching
